Our Story
chapter79 is run by Jackie and Andy Benson, a husband and wife team. After being in Hertford for 15 years, they decided that 2021 was the perfect year to refresh their brand and relaunch!
The brand name chapter79 encapsulates perfectly what has always been at the heart of their business: telling stories through jewellery – and 79 is the atomic number of gold, is the perfect chapter number for this experienced business with an exciting future ahead of them.
Jackie trained as a goldsmith at Kent institute of Art and Design where she fell in love with working with precious metals. Her career started working in jewellery workshops and suppliers to the trade in Hatton garden before starting her own business in 2006 in the centre of Hertford, where they still trade today. Jackie’s favourite part of running chapter79 is “doing a job I love and meeting all our great customers”.
Andy and Jackie met at art school where he was studying design, specialising in 3d design and model making. Having always been creative and practical, applying these skills to jewellery design was an easy transition. He now embraces new technology using their computer aided design software.
Andy’s favourite part of running chapter79 is “the challenge that a commission for a new design brings”.
“We pride ourselves on being an integral part of the community in our local town of Hertford, and welcome in people far and wide to our lovely shop. We also strive to build a community of customers with whom we create long-term relationships who trust us with telling their stories through jewellery”.
